Club History
Universal Athletics Club was established in 2000, with over 50 active members of all ages. The founders are Pavitar Dosanjh (former great Indian Athlete), Joginder Tiger (former Indian National Coach), and Brigadier Darshan Singh Aujla VSM (Retd.) Director of Physical Training for Indian Army 1982-1986. The club is based out of North Surrey Secondary School (track facility), and Universal Fitness Center 8585 132nd Street. The Universal Athletics Club is registered under the BC Societies Act and BC Athletics. The club is a community oriented, voluntary, professionally coached non-profit competitive athletics club for all ages.
Objective
To provide and advocate programs and services to meet the needs of athletes and partcipants.
- Introduce fun, creative programs for basic skills development (running, jumping and throwing programs)
- Help develop a positive self-image
- Improve fitness level
- To create an opportunity to achieve excellence in track and field
- Reduce anti-social behavior
General Registration Information
The Universal Track & Field Club regular season begins on January 01 and runs to the end of December 31st. Registration is ongoing and open all year round. New Athletes can be enrolled in October for the following year. All athletes must be registered with the club prior to training. Information about training, events and meets will be available to all members. Members responsibilities. Successful non-profit sporting organization are the result of strong a partnership between parents, coaches and athletes. If each party does their part, the result will be an efficient organization and individual success. - Discuss and encourage the athlete to focus on the competitions, goals, and expectations
Athletes
- Practice the values of teamwork, pride and dedication
- Be regular and punctual for practice
- Notify the coaches of any injury, illness or any other special consideration
- Listen to the coaches and put maximum effort into each practice session
- Compete at all designated meets
- Show good sportsmanship
